Timothy D. Charlesworth, shareholder and chair of the Firm’s International Business & Trade Law group was recently asked by The Morning Call to comment on the impact of US-China Tariff’s on Lehigh Valley businesses. The article, “Despite Trump’s order, Lehigh Valley companies are staying in China” tackles the impact of the growing economic tensions between the United States and China.

The majority of the article discusses pushback from businesses on President Trump’s order for businesses to find alternative places to conduct business beyond China. Mr. Charlesworth noted that relocating operations out of China would be challenging, but some companies are opting to diversify their operations abroad. “Even if the U.S.-China tariff situation calms down, it’s still smart to have suppliers and customers in various locations around the world,” he noted. He also added that he’s heard companies are adding India and Vietnam among alternate sources.
