Kenneth R. Charette, Shareholder in FLB’s Corporate Business & Banking and Mergers & Acquisitions groups, recently discussed Corporate entity selection and the increasing popularity of Benefit Corporations (B-Corps) on WDIY’s LV Business Beat. Speaking with host Sally Handlon and Peter Krajsa, Co-Chair and Founder of the National Energy Improvement Fund (NEIF), Mr. Charette outlined the considerations for choosing a business entity type, as well as what makes B-Corps different than other entities.
A Benefit Corporation or LLC is a particular type of entity allowed in Pennsylvania and other states that shift the default rules for conventional organizations. Instead of operating solely to maximize profits for shareholders, B-Corps take into account other factors, such as creating a positive impact on society, workers, the community and the environment.
Mr. Charette and Mr. Krajsa discuss NEIF’s status as a certified Benefit Corporation and the various opportunities and entity considerations available to organizations.
Their enlightening discussion is available to listen to on WDIY’s website.
