(Updated April 1, 2020) Due to the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), on March 19, 2020, Tom Wolf, the Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, issued an emergency Order mandating the closure of all “non-life-sustaining” businesses. Enforcement of the Order went into effect on March 23, 2020 at 8:00 a.m.
As part of the Order, the Department of Health issued an updated list of categories of businesses (Updated 4/1 from Scrib’d ), which the Department considers to be life-sustaining and which may continue operating under the Order. The list has been updated to conform with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency advisory published by the Department of Homeland Security, which provides additional guidance for businesses attempting to determine if they are permitted to continue operations.
Many businesses are struggling to interpret the Order. In addition, the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) is accepting requests for waivers from businesses that provide goods or services to life-sustaining businesses or critical infrastructure supply chains identified by the Department of Homeland Security. The deadline for submitting a request for an exemption/waiver is April 3, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.
